CURRENCY, VISA AND CUSTOMSThere is no need to exchange your money before you arrive to your Hotel in Turkey. Currency exchange rates have always been better in exchange offices in Marmaris. Money can be changed in Banks, Post Office, Jewellery Shops, Currency Exchange Offices. Also on arrival at the Turkish airport some turkish banks do have branches for money exchange, however, it would be wise not to exchange at the airport as for some reason rates are ridiculiously low. You can also shop and pay in in Marmaris with your own currency wether it is sterling, euro, or dolar as long as the Banknotes are in a good condition, please note that scottish banknotes may be an exception as these banknotes are not in demand at all. Traveller Cheques are also easy to exchange without any problem, hotels, restaurant, shops , banks do except Traveller Cheques provided it has been signed in front of them and the passport number matches the number you placed on the cheque. Bare in mind there are some surcharges applicable when using Travellers Cheques. Visa can be obtained at the arrival if you are visiting for a short period of time for 10 sterling per person including infants. This visa stamp must be purchased first, before proceeding to passport control . It is imperative that you know that you do bring along 10 sterling bank notes for each person as they wont be given any change. The Visa optained at the aiport on arrival is for a 3 months tourist stay and multiple entrance is permitted with this visa. This means from the date the visa is obtained, within the 3 months you can leave and come back as many times as you want. For any other type of Visa such as business, work, student and any other relevant visa or any information that you wish to be sure of must be optained from the Turkish Embassy's abroad where you can find all the contact details online. Turkish authorities have improved their security at the airports and taking no-nonsence. You wont be able to negotiate nor will you be able to explain yourself once you have been caught or belived that you are in the wrong, This is why ignorance must be not practised with the turkish authorities. There are certain items that you must keep away no matter how tempting e.g antiquities, live animals , this obvioulsy applys to general drug stuff too. When it comes to selling duty free products in Turkish Airports , sales people can be sometimes heartless and will not care how much trouble you will be landing in when you arrive to your home destination airport. You are limited with the amount of cigarettes and drinks you can take over to eu and uk from Turkey. |
