TOILETS IN TURKEY

There are two type of toilets in use in Turkey, ordinary western type pan and cistern as well as squat type of toilets which are still widely in use.

Whilst in most touristic and developed areas western type toilets have been used especialy in resturants and peoples homes, there are also many squat toilets used in public toilets in rural turkey. Squat Toilets are actually very healthy to use as lots of medics do agree this is the best posture.

One of the common questions asked regarding toilets in Turkey is about the pipes sticking out from the back of the toilet pan. It is a ablution, washing, pipe. This pipe is used to wash your bumb after big relief or number two.

Turks like the rest of the middle east and far east, do wash their bottoms. This may sound strange to you, however it is rather very hygienic as it prevents skidmarks occuring on your pants.

Many public toilets especialy in bigger cities are decorated with fresh flowers and after shaves are such as colones displayed on the counters or offered on the way out by the cashier.

Unless it is an emerceny, most man do prefer to sit when urinating as they have been tought by their parents to do so in order to prevent urine droping on their pans, as they place toilet paper front of their manhoods after they have urinated.

It is known fact that regardles how long you wait and shake, it always continues dropping urine later on. This is mainly practised by muslims whom are preying five times a day, this way underpans can kept clean.
